The Canon EF 14mm f/2.8L II Lens is a bright, ultra wide-angle lens with the shortest focal length in the L-Series line of professional lenses. Its diagonal angle of view is an impressive 114° without fisheye effects.
This lens’ completely redesigned optics, include high-precision Aspherical elements and UD-glass elements. The two UD (ultra-low dispersion) glass lens element correct chromatic aberration to achieve high resolution and contrast, without color fringing on subject outlines. Two AL (aspherical lens) elements suppress aberrations for high image quality at all focal lengths. This results in better contrast and sharpness at the outer edges, plus a reduction in chromatic aberrations sometimes seen with high-resolution digital cameras.
The lens uses a rear focusing system, high-speed CPU, and a powerful ring-type ultrasonic motor (USM) with enhanced electronics for faster, more responsive auto-focus. The Ring USM Motor uses ultrasonic frequency vibrations to drive responsive, near-silent high speed auto focus. Good holding torque stops the focusing lens group with precision virtually eliminating overshoot. Full time manual focus override is also available without having to switch out of AF mode.
